Flexible Signposts to Coded TerritoriesFlexible Signposts to Coded Territories, AKV Berlin, 2012. started as an exercise in drawing maps as a means of orientation in Athens, Greece. Over a period of about nine months, starting in October 2008, I charted onto a postcard-sized drawing pad, what would later become a representation of Athens based on the graffiti of soccer fans, permeating the city. Gradually assessing and aligning the mapped, in correspondence with passers-by and locals literate in this specific form of graffiti, its repetition, frequency and overlapping was revealed as a text. One way to read this text would be as a system of flexible signage, continually annotated and deformed by its many authors and censors.
