Tokyo Will Occur Someday (2016 edit)

Florian Goldmann identifies and visually models the relationship between global system of catastrophe, disaster and risk. He critically approaches the human desire and industrialization in preparation for today's calamity, disaster and catastrophe. The video introduced in the exhibition depicts Japan's disaster prevention exposition, aiming to be even more systematically prepared after the Fukushima disaster. Situations of natural disasters that are otherwise difficult to measure are made possible through scenarios, simulations, data and modeling. During his residency this year in Korea, Goldmann created a model on the catastrophic situation. The blue sponge, attached to the slippery surface like a building, is a door guard that is commonly seen in Korea. This small sponge functions to protect a new car from external shocks. 플로리안 골드만(Florian Goldmann)은 베를린에서 활동하는 작가로, 굴로벌 시스템의 파국, 재난, 리스크의
영향 관계를 밝히고 이를 시각적인 구조로 모델링해왔다. 그는 아테네, 도쿄에서 머물며 리서치 한 연구를
바탕으로, 오늘날 파국적 상황을 대비하고자 하는 현대인의 욕망과 신산업화를 비평적으로 접근한다.
전시에서의 영상 ‘Tokyo Will Occur Someday' 에서는 후쿠시마 이후 보다 체계적으로 재난의 상황을
대처하고자 하는 일본의 방재박람회가 등장한다. 쓰나미가 마을에 덮쳤을 때 사람들과 차량이 안전하게 피신할
수 있는 구조물, 강진에도 지지가 가능한 가전장치 및 가구 지지대 등 대비 시스템은 사회, 도시, 건물, 그리고
개별 소풍에게까지 치밀한 기술 시스템으로 접근된다. 측정하기 어려운 자연 재해를 극복하고자 하는 인간의
욕망은 시나리오, 시뮬레이션, 데이터, 모델링 등으로 끊임없이 시험된다. 이를 바탕으로 골드만은 올해
한국에서의 레지던시 기간 동안 파국적 상황에 대한 모델을 제작한다. 설치 작업에서 대나무와 금속 선반을
사용한 지지대는 위기의 상황을 암시하는 동시에 이를 지탱하는 구조물이다. 미끌미끌한 알류미늄 표면에
마치 건물처럼 부착된 파랑색 스펀지는 한국에서만 특히나 흔한 차량용 도어가드이다. 외부 충격으로부터
자동차를 보호하고자 하는 도어가드는 신자유주의 시대의 물신화된 공포, 사유재산 훼손에 대한 지극한
